Texas Card House Houston has added an extra security guard "at all times" after a string of robberies at Houston-area poker rooms, according to PokerNews. The club is one of six TCH properties in Texas.
PokerNews reports that at least four Houston-area poker rooms have been targeted by armed robbers in the past month. Texas Card House Houston was not among them.
Capri Poker Club in Webster, about 25 miles from Houston city center, was the most recent target, about a week before the report. PokerNews reports that more than a dozen armed robbers entered the 20-table card room and demanded money.
Spades Poker House in Baytown and Empire Poker Club have also been targeted, according to the report.
Capri is seeking a new location. PokerNews was told the move is due to the building lease ending and is not related to the recent robbery. The move is expected around the first of the year.
PokerNews reports that video surveillance from the Capri robbery appears to show a suspect matching one from the Spades robbery. No arrests have been made in connection with the Houston-area robberies, but police in the involved jurisdictions appear to have identified at least one suspect.
Texas Card House has also increased security at its Dallas location, although the report says that decision is unrelated
